Let’s talk about windscreen wipers for your motorhome, camper van or RV.
Here at Ezywiper we’re as keen on the motorhome lifestyle as many Kiwis and we spend a lot of time travelling in our camper. It’s such a great way to see the country at your own pace and with your own stuff. Compared with everyday use vehicles motorhomes tend to spend a lot of time not being used, especially over winter. Getting your campervan or motorhome ready for the summer season is an important job. As the weather starts to improve and you start planning summer adventures, the one thing you don’t want to over look is your windscreen wipers.
Motorhomes are not the most agile vehicle on the road and need extra space to stop (especially in the wet) so it’s vital that you can clearly see as far ahead as possible to give yourself plenty of time to stop in an emergency.
In order to keep your windscreen clear in the rain we recommend replacing your wipers every 12 months to keep them working perfectly. The best time to change your wipers is before they wear out.
I learnt this the hard way when early in our motorhome career (before we started Ezywiper) I was on a summer motorhome holiday with the good lady. We were a very long way from home when in typical NZ summer fashion it started raining heavily. The wipers on our Fiat Ducato based campervan were a couple of years old and overdue for replacement when the rain came so we found ourselves with a smearing windscreen which made it very difficult to see. No problem I thought, we’ll stop at the next Repco and buy some replacements. After detouring to the nearest town and eventually finding a park large enough to fit our 7.5m camper (but not too far away to walk in the rain) we made it into the shop only to find they had the driver’s side size but not the passenger. Long story short it took several (frustrating) stops in different towns before we were able to replace both driver and passenger side wipers, all of which took a chunk of time out of our holiday.
At Ezywiper we believe the best way to buy wiper blades is online as you can quickly search our database of over 3000 vehicles to find the perfect fit and have them delivered free within a couple of days. Best of all we guarantee you’ll love your new wipers or we’ll refund your money.
Ezywiper have products to fit most common motorhome and camper van chassis so let’s go into a little detail on some of the popular models.
Fiat Ducato
The Fiat Ducato van chassis has become a popular choice for motorhome builders due to its versatility, reliability, and strong design foundation. With its lightweight yet durable frame, the Ducato chassis offers a perfect starting point for customisation, allowing manufacturers to build a wide variety of models, from compact campers to larger, more luxurious motorhomes. Its efficient engines, smooth handling, and spacious design make it ideal for long-distance travel and comfortable living on the road. Additionally, the Ducato’s adaptability to various interior layouts and technological integrations makes it a favourite in the motorhome/recreational vehicle (RV) industry, providing builders with a flexible platform to meet the diverse needs of their customers.
The third generation Fiat Ducato uses a 22” passenger side wiper and a 26” long driver’s side wiper blade. Fiat started using the push button type arms common on many European vehicles from 2007 so these windscreen wipers are nice and easy to replace.
